What happens when you merge records?

The merging process follows the following steps:

  1. associate attached files from the source record(s) with the target record
  2. read contact info for the source record check to see if the contact is currently in the target record using a combination of first name, last name and email address
    • if contact is already in the target record, select sales rep comments from the source record and add to the existing contact
    • if contact is not already in the target record add the contact to the target record and select sales rep comments from the source record and add to the new contact
  3. update any callbacks that the source contact is associated with
  4. update any marketing activities that the source contact is associated with
  5. update any email log entries that the source contact is associated with
  6. update any opportunities that the source contact is associated with
  7. update any lead nurturing tracks that the source contact is associated with
  8. merge any custom forms from the source contact to the target contact
    • read custom form info for the source contact
    • add the custom form to the target contact
  9. merge any custom forms from the source record to the target record
    • read custom form info for the source record(s)
    • add the custom form to the target record
  10. associate opportunities from the source record with the target record
    • this will include opportunity products, attached files and custom forms
  11. associate quotes from the source record with the target record
  12. associate callbacks from the source record with the target record
  13. associate call center stats from the source record with the target record
  14. mark source record(s) as deleted
