# sign shows up in Email Message Templates when attaching a file

Symptom:

When sending an email and an email message template has been selected and a file is attached you see the # sign has replaced various characters and punctuation in your email message.

Resolution #1

  1. From IE, click “Tools”
  2. Click “Internet Options”
  3. From the “Internet Options” dialog, Click on the ‘Security’ tab
  4. Click on the ‘Trusted Sites’ image
  5. Click on ‘Sites’ button
  6. Add the following websites as trusted sites: http://files.crmtool.net, http://www.leadmaster.com, https://secure.leadmaster.com
  7. Click “Close”
  8. Click “OK”

Also,

  1. From IE, click “Tools”
  2. Click “Internet Options”
  3. Click on the “Security” tab
  4. Click on the “Trusted Sites” image
  5. Click on the “Custom level…” button
  6. Find the section “Scripting”
  7. For “Enable XSS filter” option, select “Disable”
  8. Click “OK”
  9. Click “OK”

Resolution #2

Try using a different browser.

Resolution #3

Attach the file first, then choose the email template.
